CLIENT INFORMATION
My first impressions of John have been nothing but positive – his warmth and kindness shone through immediately and I knew that he will be of great support to my son, who has only recently been diagnosed autistic. I can happily report that those impressions were shared by my son too." - Tamara
Coaching is for your benefit and yours is the most important voice in the room.
You might have had a challenging experience with mental health professionals in the past, but I will do everything I can to meet your needs.
We can meet over video call, audio call, live text messaging or emails - whatever you prefer.
If we do meet on a video call, you don't need to sit upright, look into the camera or have your camera on. At any time you are welcome for either of us to turn our cameras off, or switch to typing responses.
I don't mind if you interrupt me, do all the talking or none of the talking. Some clients turn up and want to talk for an hour to help process their thoughts, others are silent and want me to do all the talking. Some are prepared and bring questions. Others have no idea what to talk about and would like me to lead. Some just want a conversation with someone else who "gets them" so that they can relax and be themselves.
You are welcome to wear dark glasses during our conversations, fidget, info-dump, stim or anything else that will make you feel more comfortable.
If you struggle to answer questions about your feelings I promise never to ask "how do you feel about that?"
If you need time to process before answering a question we can split calls into shorter chunks, or come back to subjects when you want.
I am here to support you and help you discover what works best for you.
How does it work?
We start with a free 30 minute call - by phone, video or text chat. If you wish to continue we will discuss the best way forward for you (number of calls, duration, dates and times) and sign a coaching agreement. You can cancel the coaching at any time, but will need to give 24 hours' notice before our next session or that fee is due.
An example coaching agreement can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.
Where does the coaching take place?
Coaching takes place online, so you can be based anywhere in the world. You need to be sitting somewhere quiet and private where you can think and speak without being overheard.
Zoom calls seems to be the most popular, but we can use any communication method you prefer.
Booking calls
Calls are booked in via email. If you let me know when you are ready I'll email my availability for you to choose.
Some people like the same time every week, others like to book in when they have the energy or processing time. Calls can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes duration. I'm here to meet your needs.
What if I’m also seeing a therapist or counsellor?
Coaching is not a substitute for counselling, mental health care or substance abuse treatment. There can be extra challenges if you’re seeing a life coach and receiving counselling at the same time.
You will need to inform your coach and any medical or therapeutic practitioners if you intend to work with them both together. There are some organisations listed here offering support for mental health, substance misuse or gender and sexuality issues.
How much does it cost?
The first call is to get to know one another and is free. After that fees are £40 GBP / €500 Euros/ $55 USD for 30 minutes, £80/ €100/ $110 for an hour, or six sessions for the price of five if paid in advance. Payment in other currencies available on request.
Payment can be made via PayPal, apps such as Revolut or Wise, or bank transfer - and is due at the time of booking. Sessions can be cancelled up to 24 hours' notice with no charge, after that the full fee is payable. If the 6 session package is cancelled any sessions already used are charged at the hourly rate.
What personal information is stored?
I will need to store your phone number or email electronically to set up the calls. I will also ask if I can take hand-written notes during the calls.
I won't divulge to anyone that you are being coached or anything you've shared. If you meet socially I won't make reference to your calls. (I'm happy for you to tell other people if you want to make a referral.)
(Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office for data protection. I have passed checks from the Disclosure & Barring Service in Jan 2024 and the Irish Vetting Service in June 2021 and can send proof on request.)
